Sweden are familiar opponents when it comes to tournament groups stages. They were drawn alongside us in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea and again in Germany in 2006 with both occasions resulting in a draw. Both meetings have gone right to down to the wire with veteran Swede striker Henrik Larsson scoring in extra time making it 2-2 in Germany. The most recent encounter against the Swedes saw The Three Lions finally claim victory in a friendly game last November.
